Propagation with Steve Edney

Propagation Tips with Steve Edney at the Salutation Garden, Sandwich. An eager group met Steve Edney at the Salutation Garden for an engaging afternoon learning about propagation. (all the gorgeous photos © Sally Hayward)

Steve has a wealth of knowledge and his enthusiasm and love of the garden cemented our afternoon of learning. Unusual and new plant varieties are interspersed with trusted favourites in the Sir Edwin Lutyens designed garden; we were also fortunate to enjoy some glorious October sunshine.

The tips and techniques that Steve passed onto the group will be invaluable and we were grateful for his time. We all left having learnt something; fascinating facts, when types of cutting work best, ideal conditions and a very important point to remember – all of us are always learning which is what makes the world of plants so fascinating and why sometimes when faced with less success than we were hoping for – we persevere.

Thanks to Steve – our success rate, even for those tricky little plants that take their time and can be quite demanding will improve. Look out for the next propagation day in the Spring!
