Canterbury Cathedral Library visit tea, and Precincts Tour.
13.30 onwards Saturday 2 December 2017
Plant Heritage members have a very rare opportunity to see the herbals and other garden related books from the Canterbury Cathedral library.
Gerard’s herbal from 1597 will be shown by Librarian, Karen Brayshaw; as will books relating to farming and gardening. These books are normally not on display, and are exceptionally beautiful.
Apart from visiting the library on this Saturday, you will also have a chance to see the herb garden and do a tour of the Precincts grounds (with some significant historical trees) with the Head Gardener.
During the afternoon a cream tea will be served in the Cathedral Lodge, during which there will be time to catch up with other members. Parking is not available on site, but there is free parking at the Council offices (about a 10 minute walk – CT1 1YW) and you can park at various Park and Ride locations where buses will take you to the bus station (about a 5 minute walk).
The total price for this afternoon is £17.50. This includes Precincts charge (normally £12.50), Library visit, Precincts tour and tea/coffee and two scones.
