An exclusive afternoon workshop at Brogdale Collections in Faversham.
The afternoon will introduce you to pruning fruit trees; from mature trees that need restoring, to newly planted trees that need to be formed. It will cover basic techniques and methods to start training your own espaliers and fans.
The elements of fruit trees, why prune, what equipment to use, when to prune and preliminary steps, will also be discussed. An overview of the types of tree forms and rootstocks will be shown as well. There will then be an opportunity to walk through the Collections and discuss what has been learned.
As you will be going outside please be prepared for winter weather – waterproofs, waterproof boots, warm clothing. The Collections are held in an area that is often wet and muddy.
The Courtyard Restaurant, which specialises in local food and drink, will be open, should you like lunch before the course starts.
Brogdale Farm also has a range of shops where you can buy plants and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
